DESCENT OF THE FAIRIESA theatre performance which takes place in the small town of Pretare. The last edition was in 2009. It is unique because of its extremely original plot, which narrates the triumphs of Guerin Meschino and of the goddess Sibilla. One day some shepherds arrived in what had once been the old town of Colfiorito. The town had been buried under a landslide by the “Sybil” who was envious of the happiness of the people who lived there. The shepherds’ life there was gladdened by their meeting with the “Fairies”, strange creatures in the Sybil’s service who had feminine features and wore sumptuous clothes but had goats’ hooves instead of feet. The “Fairies” would come down into the town but had to return to the Grotto before dawn broke if they were not to reveal their goatish nature. A knight of unknown origin, the famous "Guerrin Meschino", defeated the magic powers of the Sybil and finally freed the “Fairies” from her spell so that they could marry the shepherds. And so the town of Pretare was born.
