PORTA SANT’AGATA
In the past, the town was surrounded by a wall which was open only at certain points (gates), where access roads led into the town. The only gate which is still standing is that of Sant’Agata, through which the road that led to Spelonga passed, climbing Colle Piccione.
The gate is well-preserved and separate from any urban development. Two coats of arms, dating back to the XVI century remain unchanged on the walls. They belong to two families from Norcia: the Passerini and the Quarantotto. Bibliography:
