Place name: tradition has it that the place name derives from the fact that the town is divided into three parts, Contrada Ponte, which is the oldest, Vicinato and Trisungo. The latter would be the modification of tresjungo, which indicated the point in which three roads met (the Salaria, the vorsus which rose up to Borgo and to the pass of Forca di Presta and finally the road that led to Spelonga and to Colle).
